As stated in news letters last year, we are focusing this academic year on improving our attendance. New guidelines have been issued to all schools regarding taking children out of class during term time.
In the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013, all references to family holiday and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days have been removed. The amendments make clear that Head Teachersmay not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Head Teachers should determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if the leave is granted.
If your child needs to be away from school, please inform the school in writing, stating the 'exceptional circumstances'. Please be mindful that this does not automatically mean that your request will be accepted.
