Love was in the air on Valentine's Day, as everyone at St. James' showed their heart for refugees and asylum seekers.
We started the day with an assembly, where we reminded our school family of the dificulties these people face in their daily lives and that we must stand in solidarity with them. In particular, we looked at how the Rwanda scheme goes against everything that Jesus taught us:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34)
The hymn we sang to finish our assembly was very simple but said everything we needed to:
Open our eyes to see
Open our ears to hear
Open our life to live Your calling
Open us Lord to love
Afterwards, we wrote messages of compassion and love for refugees on orange hearts.
