St James Catholic

Primary School

In the loving peace, justice and joy of Jesus, we achieve.

How will I know if you think my child needs extra support?

How will I know if you think my child needs extra support?

If school thinks your child needs extra support, we will always talk to you about this. When a teacher first suspects a child may have a special educational need they have to complete an initial concerns record which they then must share with the child’s parents before discussing it further with any other members of staff.

Your child’s teacher will talk to you about the progress that has been made each term.  We also operate an open door policy and you can make an appointment to speak to your child’s teacher or the SENCo at any point during the year.

If your child has individual outcome focused targets, these will be discussed and reviewed regularly with you and your child.

We want to work with you to make sure your child is happy, safe and progressing well in school.
