The Year of Prayer (2024)
The Year of Prayer 2024 and The Jubilee Year 2025. In preparation for the 2025 Jubilee Year 'Pilgrims of Hope', 2024 has been designated a Year of Prayer by Pope Francis. There is a particular focus on the Our Father, and this presents us with a great opportunity to go back to the basics of prayer.
“Prayer unites us; it makes us brothers and sisters. It is in prayer that our hearts find the strength not to be cold and insensitive in the face of injustice. In prayer, God keeps calling us, opening our hearts to charity. ”
Pope Francis
Reception and KS1 looked at the words, "Give us this day our daily bread," from the Our Father. Reception made bread and words that stood out in the prayer. KS1 created a picture of them all as part of a meal with Jesus.
Key Stage 2 looked at the line "Forgive us our Tresspasses" from the Our Father. The children all thought about what they would like to ask Jesus to forgive them for. All the children put their thoughts on a tree as the picture was inspired by Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane.
