St James Catholic

Primary School

In the loving peace, justice and joy of Jesus, we achieve.

Catholic Social Teaching

Family and Community

We have been learning about how to help people in our families and communities. We passed a ball of string around and told each other how we could help them in school. We also made 'Helping Hands' and said how we could help people in our communities.

Dignity of the Human Person

We have been thinking about how special each person is because God made them.

Rights and Responsibilities

We have taken some time to think about how God wants us to help make sure everyone is safe and healthy and can have a good life.

We have thought about what makes us happy and how we can make other people in our community happy.

We wrote a Happiness poem and created some Happiness maps.

Option for the Poor and Vulnerable

We have thought carefully about how God invites us to care in a special way for those who need the most help. In the scriptures, Jesus is always spending time with the sick and those who are cared for the least. We talked about what 'Justice' means and we wrote prayers for the poor and vulnerable.

Dignity of Work

We have learnt that everyone who works deserves to be treated fairly and with respect. Every job is important, whether you're a teacher, a doctor, a farmer, or a cleaner. We should respect everyone's work. We have learned that it's important to be treated fairly, be paid fairly and have safe working conditions.

We thought about the jobs that we would like to do when we are older and how we can use the gifts that God has given us to help other people.

Solidarity and the Common Good

We have learnt about how we are all the People of God, one family. Therefore, what happens to one has an impact on all. At the heart of solidarity is the pursuit of justice and peace.

We have thought about what peace means to us, what can spoil peace and how we can restore peace.

We made posters to share our ideas.
