Work for Tabor Living

In Autumn 2024, the Caritas group chose to help people without a home. They did this because we believe in the dignity of the human person.

“Human beings too are creatures of this world, enjoying a right to life and happiness, and endowed with unique dignity. So we cannot fail to consider the effects on people’s lives of environmental deterioration, current models of development and the throwaway culture.” (Pope Francis, On Care for Our Common Home [Laudato Si'], no. 43).

They met with Emily from Father Hudsons, who arranged a visit to Tabor Living. They then shared their plans with the school.

The children then visited Tabor Living in the middle of Birmingham city centre.

The Caritas group was set the challenge by Tabor Living to raise £200. When clients leave Tabor, they take their bed with them, so the charity needs £200 to replace the one they have.  They decided to hold two events - a pyjama day and a soup kitchen.  They thought they would be good ways to remind people of what they were raising money for.  In the end, they raised over £200 for Tabor Living.
