St James Catholic

Primary School

In the loving peace, justice and joy of Jesus, we achieve.

Remote Learning

Remote education

Sometimes, there may be occasions when the school has to close, for example due to bad weather (like snow) or other unexpected reasons. If this happens, we will do our best to make sure your child can continue their learning at home.

Learning from Home

If school is closed, children will be set work to complete at home. This may include:

  • Activities on online platform such as Microsoft Teams, school-bought programs (IXL, TT Rockstars or Numbots)  our school website)
  • Lessons or tasks linked to what the children would normally be learning in class
  • A simple daily plan to help structure their learning

We will always try to keep things as clear and manageable as possible.

What We Ask of Children

We encourage children to:

  • Do the work set by their teacher
  • Try their best and take pride in their learning
  • Ask for help if they are unsure

We know that every family is different, so please don’t worry if things aren’t perfect!

Keeping Children Safe

We take safeguarding very seriously. All online learning will follow our school’s safety rules and policies to make sure children are protected at all times.

Supporting Every Child

We will make sure that:

  • Learning is suitable for your child’s age and needs
  • Extra support is provided where possible, including for children with SEND

Keeping You Informed

We will keep you updated through:

  • The school website
  • Emails or app messages
