At key stage two, we use a website called IXL in our classrooms. IXL is a comprehensive learning program offering unlimited Maths and English practice across thousands of skills—all of which are aligned to the national curriculum. Across key stage 2, children will access IXL on a daily basis in school to practice maths and English skills.
Homework for Maths and English is set on IXL. When you log onto it, find the section ‘From your teacher’ and your work will be there. The link to IXL can be found on a tile on the BGfL365 home screen.
There will be Maths tasks set which are linked to what children have been learning about in recent lessons. English homework can be linked to spelling, punctuation and grammar skills as well as comprehension.
You can find an overview of homework and the spellings for the week on Teams. Here you will also find an RE task, giving you the opportunity to share what you have learnt in RE with your family.
Children should also access Times Tables Rock Stars (or Numbots) to support recall in Maths. They may also be asked to complete activities on IDL to support phonics and spelling skills.
If children find the tasks easy, or complete them quickly, they know that they can also work on the ‘recommendations’ on tab on their home IXL screen, which is linked to their personalised learning.
If you have trouble completing your homework, speak to Mr Lloyd so we can help you.
