St James Catholic

Primary School

In the loving peace, justice and joy of Jesus, we achieve.

Reconciliation

Reconciliation

In year 3 we will be embarking on a spiritual journey towards the sacrament of First Holy Communion.

The first part of this journey is the Sacrament of Reconciliation, it is also known as confession. All children in year 3 will learn and explore the reasons why we take this sacrament as we grow in faith and understanding through our R.E. lessons. They will understand that reconciliation is when we say sorry for the things we have done wrong and the things we haven’t done and restore our relationship with God. They will know that this helps us to move forward in God’s love to make good choices in our lives every day.

As part of our preparation, we will invite our families into school to take part in a Reconciliation workshop and share with them what we have been doing.

Children will learn the Act of Contrition and those children that are Baptised Catholic will then take the Sacrament of Reconciliation with Father Srinu.

The Act of Contrition

O my God, I thank you for loving me.

I am sorry for all my sins:

for not loving others

and not loving you.

Help me to live like Jesus

and not sin again.

Amen.
