The Holy Father has decided that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee, something which happens every 25 years.
The theme is “Pilgrims of Hope”, and is a year of hope for a world suffering the impacts of war, the ongoing effects of COVID-19 pandemic, and a climate crisis.
The year begins with the well-known custom of the opening of the Holy Door at St Peter’s Basilica, following the other three papal basilicas in Rome. The Pope grants permission for Holy Doors to be situated throughout the world for Catholics everywhere to take part in this most special rite.
The leaflet below gives some ideas of what school, home and the parish can do during the year.
Jubilee Pledge Day - Tuesday 1st July 2025
On Tuesday 1st July all the children went on a 'HOPE' pilgrimage around school, the prayer garden the forest school and Church. We considered how to look after the planet God has given us, how to recycle, protecting animals, protecting nature, using resources wisely and stopping pollution.
The children, also, returned to their original pledge ideas and then firmed up on one specific idea for their class to continue with for the next academic year. Finally, they participated in the Lumen Christi TEAMS where each school shared their pledges. It was a great day.
By way of preparing for the jubilee year, Pilgrims of Hope, we joined with St Thomas Aquinas and other schools of Lumen Christi to record videos to prepare.
