St James Catholic

Primary School

In the loving peace, justice and joy of Jesus, we achieve.

Religious Education

Faith is an integral part of our school.  A minimum of 10% of the curriculum is given to the RE curriculum.  An overview of the RE curriculum may be found under our Catholic Life header - a link is below.

RE is not something we simply teach discreetly.  The Catholic Life of our school permeates all aspects of our school life and will be found in every lesson, every interaction with each other.  To help with this, the archdiocese of Birmingham has produced the Catholic Pupil Profile, which focuses us on what it is to be Catholic in the twenty-first Century.

The RE overview shows the topics taught across the school, in RE.  All year groups in school follow the Archdiocese of Birmingham scheme of work entitled 'Learning and Growing as the People of God.' This is a progressive scheme building on the skills and knowledge acquired in previous years. Each year group teaches a range of units of work which cover Scripture, Sacraments, Living as Christians and the Liturgical Year. This ensures that all children cover a wide range of units throughout each year group, including the Catholic Pupil Profile which helps the children to understand what it means to be Catholic today.
