Welcome to Reception
Mrs Footman, Mrs Darby and Mrs Bruton welcome you as the children begin their next steps in learning here at St James Catholic Primary School.
This is a very important and exciting year and we will work in partnership with you to care for and educate your child. We aim to offer exciting and new opportunities for all children, to draw out their potential, helping each individual to grow and develop in preparation for the future.
Our Catholic Faith is at the heart of everything we do in Reception Class. Your child will learn that Jesus loves us all and that we are special. We all try hard to treat everyone that we meet with love and respect, just as Jesus did.
During this term our topic will be winter and fairy tales. We will be having a fairy tale dress up day in the second part of the spring term where the children can come dressed up as their favourite character and take part in some role play activities.
During the cold months we will be looking for signs of winter and hearing stories about Jack Frost. We will be making winter pictures and have our very own ski cafe in the classroom where the children can learn to use money to buy items.
Here are some stories you could read together with your child.
We will be learning about animals that live in the polar regions and looking at their climate. Here is a video with some information about these types of animals.
