June and July - celebrating the Eucharist - and the Feast of Saint James

June is the month that they church celebrates the institution of the eucharist. Accordingly, the school and the parish join again in June to celebrate the Eucharist in two special ways

The children in year 3 make their First Holy Communion in June. They are excellently prepared, culminating a special retreat in the parish centre before the children receive the eucharist for the first time.

The Feast of Corpus Christi

Traditionally on Corpus Christi, the school an church come together for a processions are held. The Blessed Sacrament is taken from the Church and is processed down past the school and across our playground. The congregation follow behind the Blessed Sacrament, throwing petals whilst praying.

This procession, focusing on the Blessed Sacrament is an outward sign to show that the Eucharist is source and summit of our faith. The Blessed Sacrament is placed within the Monstrance which is a vessel made of precious metal. It allows the faithful to gaze upon our Blessed Lord in the form of Eucharist whilst protecting the host.

Whilst the Sacrament is being processed, members of the parish hold a canopy over the Blessed Sacrament.
The procession leads back to church to the altar for Adoration and Benediction.

Our School's Patron Is Saint James - and his feast day is 25 July.

It is the school's tradition that the last Mass of the school's year is celebrated as the feast of Saint James'.
