July 2025 - Over 50s Afternoon Tea (2)
The second Over 50s afternoon tea, in the parish hall with our parish community, was a roaring success. We had a new group of Caritas pupils (fromY4) join in after they had been appointed by Mr Ingram. The child applied for the role and had an interview to be part of this important group.
The Over 50s afternoon tea was opened up to the grandparents of the Caritas group so we were really popular, this year. Again the choir, led by Ms. Jones, sang to the group and the afternoon tea was organised with Miss Robinson taking a superb lead.
A truly memorable afternoon.
July 2024 - Afternoon Tea
The Caritas ambassadors wanted to work with the more senior members of the parish and so liaised with the Over 50s club to create an afternoon tea.
The children planned this event for some time; for example, they had asked Miss Robinson to ensure that Breakout groups prepared and made cakes for the event. Miss Robinson worked with the Caritas group on the day to make sandwiches for the group then, with Miss Kelly's and Mr O'Donnell's help, they transported the cakes and sandwiches to the parish centre and set the room up for our guests.
Our guests arrived and were greeted by our Caritas ambassadors, who served tea and coffee as well as the cakes and sandwiches. The children spent time with the more senior members of our parish, sharing stories and jokes.
Ms Jones then brought the choir up to the parish centre who sang songs to entertain our guests; they loved the variety of songs that were sung by the children. Finally, Mrs Darby brought children from KS1 up to offer the Over 50s group a present of a flower that had been grown in a personally decorated flower pots.
The Over 60s group were overjoyed by the special afternoon they experienced on that day. Thank you to the Caritas Group who organised this event, with special thanks to all the teachers who contributed to the day's success.
